Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. receives a Ph.D. from the Boston University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

King’s dissertation is entitled “A Comparison of the Conceptions of God in the Thinking of Paul Tillich and Henry Nelson Wieman.” His adviser at Boston University is Rev. Howard Thurman.
